The University’s central directory services aggregate data from multiple authoritative sources and serve as a central location for identity data.
A centralized directory service allows University departments to obtain all or most of the information they need about an individual from a single source, greatly reducing the complexity of their departmental applications.
uTexas Enterprise Directory (TEDTED The uTexas Enterprise Directory (TED) is the University’s enterprise directory. See uTexas Enterprise Directory (TED) in the service catalog for more information.)
TED is a private LDAPLDAP Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is a set of protocols for accessing information directories based on the standards contained within the X.500 standard, but is significantly simpler.-based directory service that contains identity information about students, faculty, staff, and University affiliates. TED on the Mainframe (TOMTOM TED on the Mainframe (TOM) is a subset of the uTexas Enterprise Directory (TED) except on the UT Mainframe. It is a handful of files in an ADABAS database. It is populated by a uTexas Identity Manager (TIM) notifier and consumed exclusively by UT Mainframe applications.)
TOM is a mirror of TED data that is hosted on the mainframe to provide high-performance access to identity data via commonly-used Natural EIDUT EID The University of Texas Electronic Identity (UT EID or EID) is the public records identifier for principals at the university. White Pages Service (WPSWPS The White Pages Service (WPS) is a directory back-end which supports the university’s web-based public directory.)
WPS is a semi-public directory that contains public records information about current students, faculty, and staff. The service provides the directory back-end for the UT Directory.
