White Pages Service Retirement Complete

The Identity and Access Management (IAMIAM Identity and Access Management (IAM) is a set of policies, processes, and technologies designed to ensure that the right individuals (identities) have the right access to resources within an organization. IAM involves managing and securing digital identities, controlling access to systems and data, and maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.) Team has fully retired the White Pages Service (WPS) as of June 3, 2026.

Pre-retirement testing in May did not identify any users or business processes still dependent on WPS. The IAM Team considers all WPS capabilities successfully transitioned to the uTexas Enterprise Directory (TEDTED The uTexas Enterprise Directory (TED) is the University’s enterprise directory. See uTexas Enterprise Directory (TED) in the service catalog for more information.), and TED is now fulfilling directory workflows previously handled by WPS.

What changed

WPS login and APIAPI An Application Programming Interface (API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. access were disabled this morning. AuthenticationAuthentication Authentication is the act of determining that a person is who they claim to be. For more information, see our Concepts page., authorizationAuthorization Authorization refers to the act of determining whether an authenticated user is allowed to access a specific resource or take a specific action. For more information, see our Concepts page., and directory-related workflows previously handled in WPS are now supported through TED. Going forward, IAM Team support in this area will focus on TED onboarding, configuration assistance, and requests for historical WPS data in accordance with university records retention policies.
